"Certainly, collaborate in acts of righteousness and piety" [Al-Ma’idah: 2].
The verse is transliterated as: "Believers, extend your assistance to others in righteous deeds, those actions aligned with God's ﷻ commandments, and hold reverence for what He has ordained while abstaining from transgressions, as piety encompasses this reverence".
This verse encapsulates one of the greatest rules of the Holy Qur’an, offering immense benefit. Renowned scholar and commentator Ibn Jazi regarded it as a general commandment.
Significance:
The significance of this verse lies in the command to foster cooperation in all forms of righteousness and goodness, reflecting reverence toward the Allah Almighty ﷻ.
The spectrum of righteousness and piety is vast, including but not limited to contributing to charity, facilitating reconciliation among people, imparting knowledge to the uninformed, fulfilling the needs of others, assisting the needy, and providing solace to the distressed.
Further examples encompass aiding relatives, orphans, and the destitute, such as helping to clear debts, bestowing gifts, and promoting generosity among communities. Acts like breaking the fast of a fasting individual, distributing food, participating in funeral prayers, offering condolences, witnessing marriage contracts, guiding seekers of knowledge, and fostering consultation are also illustrative.
Though the topic is inexhaustible, we hope to have portrayed the essence of cooperation in endeavors that align with Allah's ﷻ favor.
