Surah Al-Fath (Arabic: الفتح), also known as "The Victory", is the 48th chapter of the Quran, consisting of 29 verses. It is a Madinan surah, revealed after the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.

This was a time when the idolaters obstructed the Prophet's ﷺ journey to Al-Masjid Al-Haram, preventing him from performing the Umrah pilgrimage as intended.
Despite initial hindrances, negotiations for peace ensued. A treaty was brokered, stipulating the Prophet's ﷺ return that year with the promise of completing the Umrah the following year. While some of his companions, notably Umar bin Al-Khattab, harbored reservations about these terms, it set the stage for a profound revelation captured in Surat Al-Fath.
Following the Prophet's ﷺ completion of sacrificial rituals at the halted juncture and his subsequent return to Al-Madinah, Allah ﷻ bestowed Surat Al-Fath, narrating the events surrounding the Prophet's encounter with the idolaters.
Allah ﷻ hailed the Al-Hudaybiyyah peace treaty as a visible triumph, foreseeing the abundant blessings that peace would unfurl. Companions such as Abdullah bin Mas`ud emphasized the significance of this peace accord, considering it a paramount victory, even more so than the eventual conquest of Mecca.
The treaty's impact resonated deeply within the community. Al-Bara (bin Azib) highlighted the significance of the pact, narrating a miraculous incident at Al-Hudaybiyyah's well, where water became abundant following the Prophet's ﷺ actions.
Furthermore, Umar bin Al-Khattab recounted a personal experience, fearing that his impatience might have prompted a divine revelation. Yet, to his relief, the Prophet ﷺ disclosed the revelation of a Surah dearer to him than all worldly possessions, emphasizing the forgiveness of past and future sins, a testament to Allah's ﷻ boundless mercy.
